With Christ as our guide, we will;
Learn from Jesus,
Love like Jesus,
Live like Jesus
At the moment, we are learning all about Volcanoes and Earthquakes and in Science we are finding out about solids, liquids and gases. We are listening to Mrs Bunkham read The Boy who Grew Dragons and reading and responding to Stig of the Dump as a class.
Year 4 is a time to grow in independence and we are supported to build skills and capabilities in order to improve our own learning and performance. We experience working in a variety of different groups and learn how to manage different social situations. Working as a team is fun when we are all engaged and understand the skills needed to work collaboratively effectively.

Things that help us learn
Timetables Rockstars, Hit the Button and Mathsbot help us in our Maths lessons. Mathsbot gives us manipulatives that we have access to in class, in a virtual environment.
Our Curriculum Map
In Year 4, we learn about Anglo Saxons, Vikings, Volcanoes and Earthquakes and the Local Area. We look at Europe and identify different regions and cities. Science lessons include topics such as Living Things, Teeth and Digestion, States of Matter, Sound and Electricity.
RE
Our learning in RE follows the God Matter's programme provided by the Diocese of Portsmouth. Together, we learn about the Catholic faith and other world faiths through topics such as Prayers, Saints and Feasts, Advent, Lent, and Revelation.
Trips
Usually in Year 4, we go to Winchester Cathedral in the Autumn Term to reinforce our learning about The Anglo Saxons. In the Spring Term, we have on overnight residential at Runway’s End, where we participate in lots of outdoor pursuits. During the Summer Term, we take a walk around the local area to learn about the economic activity in the area. Due to the pandemic, we aren’t able to go on any of our normal trips at present. We will keep you updated if there are any changes and if we are able to go on any virtual visits.
If you have any questions or there is anything urgent that you think I need to know, please contact the School Office either by phone at 01252 542511 or by email at enquiries@st-patricks.hants.sch.uk.
