School Meals and School Milk

School Dinners

The school recognises the benefits of a well-balanced hot school meal for children, in the middle of the day. With the advent of free school meals for all Key Stage 1 children, the expectation is that all children in this key stage will have the hot meal. We would expect that this remains the favoured option beyond Key Stage 1 as it guarantees the essential nutritional intake for learning.

The  School Food Plan acknowledges that only 1% of packed lunches contain the proper nutritional balance for a child. We would like to remind you that we are a Healthy School and as such sugary snacks, crisps and fizzy drinks are not allowed.  Unfortunately facilities for refrigerating packed lunches do not exist. If you choose to provide packed lunches then please see the links below for some nutritional and healthy lunchbox ideas.

Our school lunches are provided by award-winning caterers HC3S.

At HC3S, our ethos is about tasty food to help your children flourish. And to do that it helps if they eat a healthy diet.  By providing nutritious food, cooked fresh every day and which is responsibly sourced, we give your children a balanced diet with choices that aid concentration levels and give them energy to focus and to play.

But we go a step further. We also want children to understand about healthy lifestyles and take this positive message into adulthood. That’s why we’ve created a ripple (not just raspberry) with our ‘Ready Steady Cook’ sessions which are fun and engaging and why we introduced the ‘Food to Flourish Classroom’ to help teachers educate children using food in a way that cuts across the curriculum.

Where opportunity arises, we bring live cooking and workshops to the classroom and sometimes, out of the classroom, through partnerships with our suppliers and other local food organisations. We love schools to join in our celebrations for Nutrition and Hydration Week, British Food Fortnight, and National School Meals Week as key events in the food and drink calendar which are lots of fun.

School Milk

The school provides milk for children through Cool Milk. Parents can register at www.coolmilk.com.
Children who are entitled to eligibility checked free school meals (not Universal Free School Meals for Key Stage 1 children), and children under 5 are entitled to free milk.
