Things that help us learn
We enjoy learning in a creative way and try to incorporate Drama across the Curriculum.
In English we read a range of literature, both modern and classic, and also explore series of books by prominent authors, such as Anthony Browne.
Our Curriculum Map
Our Year 5 Curriculum is broad and varied. For Geography and History, we study Rivers and Mountains; Earth and Space; The Victorians: Golden Age or Dark Age? and The Egyptians.
The Science programme includes: Materials; Space; Forces, and Animals and Plants.
Our learning in RE follows the God Matter's programme provided by the Diocese of Portsmouth. Together, we learn about the Catholic faith and other world faiths through topics such as Prayers, Saints and Feasts, Advent, Lent, and Revelation.
Amongst other trips in Year 5, we visit Milestones Museum to support our Victorian topic and Dapdune Wharf as part of our Rivers study. Owing to the pandemic, we are waiting to see if these visits can still take place. However, we did manage to spend two days at Runways End Outdoor Centre in October. We will keep you updated if there are any changes and if we are able to go on any virtual visits.
