With Christ as our guide and example we celebrate the uniqueness of the individual.
Together we will try to:
Learn from Jesus,
Love like Jesus,
Live like Jesus
Our Topic this term is 'Amazing Americas' where we will find out more about the Mayan ancient civilisation. In this unit about the Amazing Americas, we will first find out about the continents of North and South America, and the countries that form them. We will also look in more detail at some of the contrasting regions of the Americas, finding out about the landscape, climate and locations of each area. There is the opportunity to carry out a detailed fieldwork study of our local area to help them to identify the similarities and differences between a region of the Americas and where we live. In this topic, we will continue to develop our map and atlas skills and practise reading and writing coordinates. We will be learning about the Human Body and Light in Science. Our English work will be based on a Mayan folktale, The Chocolate Tree. We will get creative by designing and making Mayan masks.
You need to come to school wearing your PE kit on Tuesdays.

RE
Our learning in RE follows the God Matter's programme provided by the Diocese of Portsmouth. Together, we learn about the Catholic faith and other world faiths through topics such as Prayers, Saints and Feasts, Advent, Lent, and Revelation.
Trips
We love to go on visits to enrich our curriculum and our topic work. We go to the British Museum and enjoy a Mayans workshop. Due to the pandemic, we aren’t able to go on any of our normal trips. We will keep you updated if there are any changes and if we are able to go on any virtual visits.
If you have any questions or there is anything urgent that you think I need to know, please contact the School Office either by phone at 01252 542511 or by email at enquiries@st-patricks.hants.sch.uk.
