With Christ as our guide and example we celebrate the uniqueness of the individual.
Together we will try to:
Learn from Jesus,
Love like Jesus,
Live like Jesus
This term we are learning about Our World and looking at the continents and oceans. We will focus on key landmarks from each continent and look at animals, birds and fish which are native to it. In English we begin by looking at the BFG and as a non-fiction study we will look at penguins. We will then link in other texts about giants such as Grandad’s Secret Giant and make links through our guided reading sessions. We will study a range of books by the author Oliver Jeffers. In science we look at Animals and other humans and habitats which includes the life cycle of a human.

Things that help us learn
In Phonics we often use phonicsplay.co.uk to help us learn and practise our sounds. Letters and Sounds have lots of great resources that we use too! We also work on timestables.co.uk to practise our timetables 2, 5 and 10 which we need to know off by heart by June.
Our Curriculum Map
In Year 2, we learn about Explorers, Our World, The Great Fire of London, The Titanic, penguins and wolves and many more exciting things! Take a look at our Curriculum Map to see what we are going to learn about throughout our Year 2 journey.
RE
Our learning in RE follows the God Matter's programme provided by the Diocese of Portsmouth. Together, we learn about the Catholic faith and other world faiths through topics such as Prayers, Saints and Feasts, Advent, Lent, and Revelation.
Trips
Normally in Year 2, we go to Basing House and Sea City. During the summer term we do a block of swimming over three weeks every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Farnborough Leisure centre. Due to the pandemic, we aren’t able to go on any of our normal trips. We will keep you updated if there are any changes and if we are able to go on any virtual visits.
If you have any questions or there is anything urgent that you think I need to know, please contact the School Office either by phone at 01252 542511 or by email at enquiries@st-patricks.hants.sch.uk.
